Saviour has had children in fits of laughter for years, with stories of his Granny that become ever more outrageous. Now the incorrigible octogenarian has escaped from prison and exploded onto the stage, in a hunt for her stolen diamonds, hotly pursued by her two lovers. But what none of them expected was what lay hidden beneath her outside loo, where Guy Fawkes once stored his left-over gunpowder …
Sam, the hapless grandson, is thrown into the role of Granny’s accomplice, but gradually finds a new fearlessness, and confidence in his abilities.
The play premiered at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough in October 2019, where it ran for the whole of half term to full houses every night and every afternoon. It was directed by Cheryl Govan.
It would be great to see this funny yet insightful story published as a book adaptation.
